APPG 3 November 2009 - An Inclusive Digital Future?

The group met to consider current and future developments in digital technology- internet, television and radio- and how these are already impacting and will impact on visually impaired and other disabled people.   Presentations were given by Trevor Franklin, Stephen Hilton, Programme Director at Connecting Bristol, Stephen Dodson, National Director for DC10plus Network (joint presentation) and Kevin Carey, Chair of RNIB.

APPG 8 July 2009 - The emotional impact of sight loss

The group met to hear presentations by Don Curran, AMD Alliance International Ambassador, Dennis Lewis, Manager of the Macular Disease Society's Counselling Service and Rowena Naylor-Morrell, Regional Manager for Action for Blind People in the East Midlands and East of England.

APPG 12 May 2009 - Briefing and shared space visit

The group met to hear a brief discussion from Sue Sharp, Head of Policy and Campaigns at the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, before visiting a shared space scheme at Sloane Square.

APPG 22 April 2009 -  Key issues facing both commissioners and patients

The group met to hear a presentation by Tom Bremridge, Chief Executive of the Macular Disease Society; paitent represenatives - Alan Farley and Lesley Fletcher shared their individual experiences; and Chris Steele, Consultant Optometrist and Head of Department of Optometry, Sunderland Eye Hospital and member of NICE Glaucoma Guidelines Development Group dicsussed new guidance concerning the managemenet and treatment of glaucoma.
